Three-Way vs Threesome relationships and who sleeps in the middle?
Call me old-fashioned. Call me conservative. But there’s this new fad that seems to have taken off…and I don’t know how fashionable fashionable is, but jeezim… a three-way relationship?
Boy + Girl + Girl
Boy + Girl + Boy
Boy + Boy + Boy
Girl + Girl + Girl
Whichever way you look at it: somebody has to sleep in the middle.
Tonight, during a dinner conversation, a friend, let’s call him *John, explained how he partook (?) in a three-way relationship.
Now a three-way relationship is slightly different than just a good old-fashioned threesome. We’re not just talking sex here. We’re talking emotional investment – in two people.
THIS, my friends, is also ever so slightly more complicated than a regular relationship. Because the dynamic involves not just ONE partner to consider, but two… and let’s face it, it’s difficult enough to deal with one whiny bitch. Imagine two!
What boggles my mind though, is – if you’re in an existing relationship, how do you open the conversation to start off something like this. Does this mean your relationship is dying and you’re trying to ‘spice up things’- or are you just bored? Or are you just a horny fucker who are into threesomes…
If you’re not in a relationship, do you just happen to meet two random people at the same time who are all into each other? And how does the dating work? Do ya’ll go on date nights – romantic candle lit dinners for three…?
What are the dynamics?
Who gets to cook? Who gets to clean? Who gets to eat?
The friend said that there are benefits like a triple income household but there are also negatives such as jealousy and sleeping in the spare bedroom…
Which begs the question – what’s the point then?
One of the other participants in the convo was a lot more worried about technicalities such as – if all three were to sleep in the same bed, and someone wanted to get up for a wee in the middle of the night- and they were caught in the middle, he’d be highly annoyed about being disturbed by Cyril in the middle…
To me, a relationship with one person is already complicated. I cant even bare the thought of it being with two people…
But it sure gives a new meaning to Adam and Eve… and Steve…
